About the Artist
Born and based in Hong Kong, Eric Luke is a traditionally trained Western artist with a strong foundation in classical techniques and an expressive approach to his work. Holding a Bachelor in Computer Science and a Master of Education from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Eric combines his artistic passion with his expertise in computer science and educational research. His artistic journey has been greatly influenced by learning from respected artists, including Kaming Chu, Henry Yan, and Zhaoming Wu.
Eric’s artwork primarily focuses on human figures and portraits, occasionally drawing cats. His oil paintings often reflect the impressionistic style, balancing traditional aesthetics with expressive dynamism. His works delve into the complexities of human emotions and physicality, celebrating the timeless elegance of the human form.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Eric is committed to education, teaching figure drawing and anatomy at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS), CUHK. He has also designed and implemented art educational programs for gifted children at CUHK. Eric’s unique perspective is informed by his multifaceted career as an artist, educator, and software engineer, allowing him to bridge the gap between classical techniques and contemporary expression.
